One tests theories by living them, one by thinking about them for weeks.

You two make an excellent lab. The Mad Scientist has a theory about literally everything and no particular urge to test it; the Daredevil hears it and immediately tries. Half your best moments are experiments neither of you should have run. Push and pull, sure, but the curiosity is genuinely shared, and nobody else finds either of you this easy to talk to.

When you click

✦An argument about whether something would actually work can eat an entire evening, and you both love it. The Mad Scientist builds the case in the air; the Daredevil says 'fine, let's find out' and grabs a jacket. The follow-through is where it gets funny.
✦Being told you're wrong doesn't land as an insult on either side. A flat contradiction is just information. That means conversations go somewhere instead of circling politely, and you can pick up a two-week-old disagreement mid-sentence as if no time passed.
✦You both hate being managed. No schedules imposed on each other, no guilt over cancelled plans, no accounting for who texted last. The Mad Scientist can vanish into a rabbit hole for nine days and come back to zero complaints, which almost nobody else offers them.

When you clash

◇The Daredevil wants to move now; the Mad Scientist wants to understand it first, and 'first' has no fixed length. One of you experiences this as thoughtfulness, the other as watching paint dry with running commentary. Both readings are slightly unfair and entirely sincere.
◇Nobody's actually running the household. Bills, renewals, the birthday you both remembered too late - it drifts until it's urgent. You're both allergic to being the responsible one, so the responsibility just sits in the middle of the room, getting louder.
◇Social invitations. The Daredevil says yes for both of you, cheerfully, because it seemed obvious. The Mad Scientist finds out on the day and shuts down - not at the event, at having been volunteered. It reads as rudeness. It's really just ambush.

How others see you two

Friends have a running bit about the two of you: someone says something offhand, and forty minutes later you're still on it while everyone else has changed topics twice. People describe you as the pair who make normal conversations turn strange. Coworkers notice the Mad Scientist talks more around the Daredevil than around anyone else, and that the Daredevil goes quiet and actually listens, which nobody thought was possible. At parties you get found in the kitchen, deep in something, ignoring the party entirely. The general verdict is fond and mildly concerned.

Reaching each other

Daredevil: 'want to come?' asked out loud and in advance gets you a yes far more often than announcing it at the door. Your friend isn't antisocial - the event just needs to exist in their head before it exists on their calendar.
Mad Scientist: your friend can't hear the reasoning happening behind your face. Narrate a little - 'give me a day, I'm chewing on it' - and the silence stops reading as disinterest. One sentence buys you all the time you actually wanted.
Put the boring adult stuff on a shared reminder rather than on a person. Neither of you will ever willingly become the one who nags, so let a calendar be the villain instead. It sounds trivial; it prevents most of the resentment you'd otherwise accumulate.

Type codes only go so far. Two people with the same four letters can attach, argue, and show love in completely different ways — and that part only the people close to you can answer.
